Federico Gutierrez won the official candidacy of the center-right. With over 1.75 million votes, the former mayor of Medellin was able reach the nomination.
Federico Gutierrez is a former mayor of Medellin and was born in Medellin in 1974. His political career started in 2003, when he was elected as a Medellin councilor. He is currently the Municipal Youth Councilor and Municipal Planning Councilor. Gutierrez is an engineer in the field of civil engineering at the University of Medellin. He has also earned a doctorate in management for senior executives from the Pontifical Bolivarian University.
Federico Gutierrez has been a consultant at HGI Consultores and Resident Engineer at Company Vifasa S.A. This construction and glass business however, was not his only focus. In private, he defends and claims that his family is the most important. He’s married to an unmarried woman , and has two children.
In his time as Councilman, he supported the mayoralty of Sergio Fajardo and later that of Alonso Salazar. He was successful in becoming the Mayor’s Office of Medellin.
