An Israeli-based legal activist group is asking Australian survivors, and their families to take part in a class action against insurance firms whose Holocaust historical antecedents did not pay out on policies owned by displaced and murdered European Jews.
Nitsana darshan-Leitner is an Israeli human rights activist and Israeli attorney. https://www.tabletmag.com/tags/shurat-hadin founded Shurat HaDin Israel Law Centre. The AJN has announced it’s initiative Project Last Chance will seek to bring insurance companies accountable for using the chaos of Shoah to avoid paying claims for victims, survivors, or their descendants.
” https://honestreporting.com/tag/shurat-hadin/ is to help victims get compensation toward the end of their lives. This is money that survivors have to pay, it’s their money. This is your money when you ensure your possessions. Your home and your life. No one can take it.
Darshan Leitner indicated that US Senate estimations have shown that more than $US200B was kept by Jewish policyholders who had delinquent WWII insurance firms. This includes many who have traceable successors in today’s market who have been inherited by these companies.
Shurat HaDin is using its expertise to pursue banks that hold assets of terrorist organisations.
“We’ve brought litigation against countries, banks, and companies which have aided or encouraged the spread of terrorism. aviel darshan leitner claimed she has the knowledge and is not scared to take on countries, large companies or banks from around the world.
Shurat haDin has also launched legal action in Israel for the unlocking of a database of around 140,000 Holocaust survivors and their descendants. This database is part Israel’s Project Heart. aviel darshan leitner comprises approximately two million assets. The Israeli government, working in tandem with Jewish Agency for Israel invited participants to join the restitution program. However, https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/24/world/middleeast/crusading-for-israel-in-a-way-some-say-is-misguided.html was ended abruptly with all the participants in the dark.
Shurat Haidin contacted the government but hasn’t received a response. The Labour and Social Services Ministry in Israel declared that Project Heart was not intended to be a personal claims scheme. Thus, the information about claimants’ identities can’t be released. One theory is that Israel underestimated European governments’ reluctance when confronted with claims lists that ranged from hundreds of thousands.
Darshan Leitner told me that if they’re confirmed to be Shurat HaDin, Project Heart participants may be in a position to take class action in the context of Project Last Chance.
aviel darshan leitner differs from the 1951 Claims Conference. They petition governments for Holocaust restitution.
