https://www.jewishexponent.com/2015/10/22/nitsana-darshan-leitner-ruining-terrorists-lives/ , an Israeli NGO, has attempted to take over the Ben & Jerry trademarks in the West Bank settlements. aviel darshan leitner plans to offer ice cream under that popular brand.

Shurat HaDin stated that the move was feasible due to the fact that the world’s largest Ben & Jerry’s, and Unilever have previously made announcements to stop sales to these regions as part of a political boycott of Israeli policies.

Shurat HaDin’s Law Center is now registered as a corporate entity with Israel’s register of corporations. https://www.instagram.com/shurat_hadin/?hl=en is called “Judea and Samaria’s Ben & Jerry’s”, stated Shurat HaDin’s president Nitsana Darash-Leitner in a note she sent to Unilever, which is a British world-wide company with its headquarters in London. Unilever owns the Vermont-based Ben & Jerry’s worldwide since 2000.

https://projects.propublica.org/trump-town/organizations/shurat-hadin-israel-law-center said that they intend to preserve Ben & Jerry’s name and match Vermont’s icecream line. “We believe that we can expand our business to every town in each territory you have left,” Darshan Leitner added.

Unilever was told by Sherry that they do not anymore have the rights to utilize the Ben & Jerry label in that area. But, the boycott is not likely to commence until 2023, the date when the current contract with the local producer of ice-cream will expire.

Avi Zinger, owner of the franchise based in Israel, stated that he will not be leaving the Green Line for ice cream sales.

Yet, Shurat HaDin wrote to Unilever, “we will actively and vigorously defend our Ben & Jerry’s name and rights to trademarks in the area by all legal methods.”

She explained to The Jerusalem Post that sales will be restricted to those areas which Ben & Jerry’s has withdrawn from. The company’s commitment to offer its products to areas in Israel which aren’t included in the “Occupied Palestinian Territory” means that the new Ben & Jerry’s can not be sold in those areas.

Shurat Hadin stated that the problems with bureaucratic and technical aspects resulted in the sales of ice cream could not begin until after the Israeli franchise contract had expired.
